SMART ENDORSES PATRICK SCHMIDT FOR CONGRESS
SMART, one of America’s largest unions, announces their support for Kansas Congressional candidate, Patrick Schmidt
TOPEKA, Kan. — SMART, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers, one of the country’s largest and most dynamic unions, has endorsed Patrick Schmidt to represent Kansas in the Second Congressional District. SMART represents 203,000 workers across the country. Ty Dragoo, SMART’s Kansas Legislative Director announced the endorsement saying, “Patrick’s military service, long familial ties to Southeast Kansas, and his connection to organized labor uniquely qualifies him to lead Kansas toward a better future. Patrick is committed to helping hard-working Kansas families by building an economy that works for them and where they are rewarded for their hard work.”
Schmidt, a sixth-generation Kansan, has roots in the coal mines in southeast Kansas and the wheat fields of central Kansas. Patrick recently completed four and a half years of active duty as a Naval Intelligence Officer, including two deployments on the USS RONALD REAGAN. He and his wife Megan reside in Topeka.
